A home-business owner has a story that could change the way people view the home business.
For years, Jim Lefkowitz has owned a small home business called Bunkers Home.
But this summer, the owner and his wife, Ann, decided to open their own business.
They are now taking on a bigger challenge.
The Lefkos are raising money for the first of many renovations they are undertaking in the Atlanta area.
“We started this business in 1994.
I started a small house business.
We did everything from painting, plumbing, landscaping, interior design,” Ann Lefkeros told ABC News.
“We went through four remodels and we built this house.”
The Lefkas say they plan to have a new house in a few years.
“I think we will have a place to call home, and we are going to have to build it ourselves,” Ann said.
The Loves bought their home in 2001 and had it listed for sale for $1.9 million.
But Ann says she couldn’t find a home to sell it at the time.
“You have to go to auction, you have to get a loan, you are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars,” she said.
Ann says she’s had to turn to her daughter, who lives with her.
“She is just so excited that I’m taking on the challenge of renovating,” Ann added.
“And I love her so much.
I have been waiting for this for so long.”
The remodels will include an exterior renovation and a renovation of the kitchen, which will include new cabinets and new counters.
The house is in good condition and Ann says they plan on opening a second house in the coming months.
The couple plans to build their new home in an area with some of the best views in Atlanta.
The new renovations will cost about $600,000.
